Find me on facebook !

I am currently traveling back & forth from Maine for academic intensive sessions (about every 2 months for 2 weeks at a time) and therefore I am taking a very limited number of birth clients per month. I am currently a Primary Midwife Under Supervision & working with a preceptor in the area to fulfill my clinical requirements to become a CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) & licensed in the state of NJ (October 2019!!). If you are interested in having me as a primary student midwife at your birth, please be in touch!

I have attended & photographed over 125 births over the past 6 years. I have taught childbirth classes in various settings. I am constantly attending workshops & classes and am an active member in the local birth community.  I have experience working with people of all different backgrounds & beliefs. I have been to hospital births, birth center births & home births. Whether you are going natural or planning a c-section, I will be there to support you.

Hi I'm Samm...

I completed my birth & postpartum doula training in October of 2012 with former Philadelphia midwife, Beth Goldberg of Believe in Birth, not knowing that it would completely change my life. In the summer of 2013 I completed a childbirth educator training (Birth Arts International) and a midwives assistant training in February of 2014. I had an amazing home birth in April 2015 and gave birth to my first baby, Indigo (Indy). You can read my birth story here.

My belief is that pregnancy and birth are a normal part of life and that bodies are strong and capable. Our society has created an unnecessary fear surrounding childbirth and my role as a doula is to support you and encourage you to make informed, evidence based, decisions. My goal is for all of my clients to feel positive about their birth experience, even when things don't go as planned.

I started an apprenticeship to become a midwife in the Spring of 2016 with my midwife, Karen Webster of Woman Wise Midwifery. She encouraged me to enroll in an academic program to supplement my clinical experience with a foundation of knowledge. So, in 2017 I enrolled in Birthwise Midwifery School.
